Health/Personal Fitness Credit Clarification
In light of Marietta City Schools allowing athletics, band, dance, and advanced physical conditioning be a component for a student earning his/her personal fitness credit, there have been many discussions and communications within our community that we need to clarify.
There are still many details that have to be addressed for this plan to become actionable, including the full review by the IE2 impact evaluation team. Additionally the timeline for this type of flexibility has not been finalized or communicated. Adequate time will be provided to schools to prepare, schedule, and consider the complexity of implementation. The Cobb County School District is scheduled to review this proposal and is in the process of examining the implications. However it is not something that is available at this moment. This proposal is scheduled to be reviewed at the end of this month and we anticipate details regarding the timing of its availability following that review. Cobb County’s proposal will look different than Marietta City Schools and is to include digital modules to supplement any flexible health/personal fitness choice.
As with any graduation rule change, an effective cohort class/effective date will be identified and phased in with each class. We will keep you updated as the proposal is considered and the next steps are drafted.
Fall Student Schedules
Fall schedules will go live in Synergy after we have made corrections from the Go Day schedule review. This process will take us several days to complete. You will be able to pick up a hard copy of your schedule on Go Day. Thank you parents and especially students for completing your registration accurately and making updates on our S1S (Semester 1 Schedule) day last May. Your attention to detail has allowed a master schedule to be built that supports our instructional goals, your college and career goals, and will allow for a smooth opening on August 3.
At this time all course requests are locked and no changes will be made except for those necessitated by schedule conflicts in our system, duplicate credit, failure of a course, duplicate period, missing a period, or missing lunch. On Go Day there will be a form available for you to alert us of a potential error. Please follow this procedure as it will help us be most productive and serve our students quickly and efficiently. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prepare for school opening this fall.
