Homecoming Theme and Dress-Up Days

Trojan Nation is gearing up for Homecoming 2017, with our varsity football team hosting Marietta High School on Friday, September 15. Lassiter students always exhibit incredible school spirit during homecoming week. This year’s theme is Out of This World. Hall decorations will begin the weekend of September 8-10. We strongly encourage students to begin putting together their artwork for hallways off campus (home garages, driveways, etc.) ahead of time to expedite the decorating process. Please view the Lassiter Homecoming 2017 flyer with additional information regarding the dress-up days for the week.

Informational Parent Meetings

Lassiter High School wants parents to be informed, so we have put together some very informational meetings to benefit you as your child progresses through their high school career.

  • Freshmen Parent Meeting
    Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at 6:30 p.m.
    Lassiter Concert Hall

Attention parents of all 9th grade students: The Lassiter High School administration is hosting their annual Freshman Parent Meeting, and we strongly urge all parents to attend. We will cover many topics including: the academic expectations and requirements, preparing for college admissions and the SAT and ACT, the upcoming PSAT, Naviance, and the Hope Scholarship.

  • Sophomore and Junior Parent Meeting (new this year!)
    Monday, September 11, 2017, at 7:00 p.m.
    Lassiter Concert Hall

Parents of sophomores and juniors: We are bringing a whole new parent informational meeting to the Lassiter community. Sophomore and junior years are critical years, bridging the gap between a new high school freshman and the senior student who is solidifying college/career plans. This meeting will explore the critical “to do” items prior to entering senior year, with input from several college admissions officers. Additionally, there will be discussions led by a clinical psychologist regarding the social and emotional challenges that students face while in high school.

  • Financial Aid Night
    Monday, October 16, 2017, at 6:30 p.m.
    Lassiter Concert Hall

This is a very informational meeting regarding the financial aid application process, sponsored by the Georgia Student Finance Commission.  We invite parents of both 11th and 12th grade students to attend.  This is a critical meeting for 12th grade parents of students that will attend a college in Georgia.

Eclipse Information

On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total eclipse will cross the entire country for the first time since 1918. We have exciting plans for our student body to be able to participate in the viewing of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Please read our letter in its entirety so you are aware of the details of the day.

AP Exam Registration Information

For students currently enrolled in advanced placement (AP) classes, AP exam registration begins August 15, 2017 and closes September 15, 2017. Please register online. You will receive a confirmation e-mail by October 6, with the total amount due. The cost per AP exam is $94 except for AP Capstone, which cost is $142. There is also a one-time $15 administrative fee per student. We will include payment options on the confirmation e-mail. Those options will include credit card, check, and payment plan options. If you have any questions, please contact Adriana Gonzalez, AP Coordinator.

AP Exam Registration Clarification:

Students/Parents do not have to pay for AP exams at this time; however, we do need them to register/sign up during this fall window. We are using a new system for the purpose of allowing families multiple payment options. Once you register/sign-up, your payment options will be generated and sent in an e-mail by mid-October. The final payment or payment in full is not due until February 15, 2018. After you register/sign-up and receive your payment options you will be able make adjustments if needed until February 15, 2018.

Student Schedules and Homeroom Assignments

We will print all student schedules and make them available in homeroom/advisement classes on the first day of school Monday, July 31. Students should report to their homeroom by 8:20 a.m. on Monday.

Check out your homeroom assignments for the 2017-2018 school year. This list can also be found throughout the year in the students quick links section of our website.

School Day Extended for Solar Eclipse

Due to the solar eclipse on August 21, 2017, the Cobb County School District will delay dismissal of elementary, middle, and high school students by 45 minutes.

The peak time to experience the solar eclipse falls during our scheduled elementary school dismissal time. Since student safety is always our first priority, we will start the day on time and delay dismissal to ensure that neither students nor employees are on the roadways during the time of the eclipse. Subsequently, high schools and middle schools will delay dismissal as well.

We will provide schools with further guidance and instructional resources as appropriate. If necessary, parents are welcome to pick up their child at the typical dismissal time.

This year we have expanded our online payments offerings on MyPaymentsPlus to include paying for items such as club/class dues, sports passes, Naviance, and foreign language program fees.
