Drawing for Diamonds

Welcome to another year of Lassiter’s Drawing For Diamonds. Drawing For Diamonds is a drawing/writing contest that gives students the opportunity to design a necklace, and tell us about the design. We will create the winning design into a piece of jewelry and will present it to the homecoming queen on October 10, 2014.

The first place winner will receive a $250 gift certificate, and we will recognize him/her at the homecoming football game on October 10, 2014. Second and third place winners will receive a $100 gift certificate. A copy of the entry form is available online and also in the front office. Entry forms are also available on the Drawing for Diamonds website. The contest deadline is on Friday, September 26, 2014. We must receive entries by 3:30 pm. Students should turn in completed entries in the box at the front office.

Earning Credit Through Demonstrating Subject Area Competency (Testing Out)

Beginning in the 2013-14 school year, students will have the option of testing out of a high school course. The deadlines to submit a registration form to the school counseling office are September 12, 2014, and February 27, 2015.

In order to test out, a student may participate in the administration of an End-of-Course Test prior to enrolling in and taking the course, and if he or she scores at the “exceeds” level on the state assessment, he or she will be awarded credit for that course.
